Camp Mandarin in China is committed to enriching children’s lives through learning, friendship, and play. Our program provides children ages 5 to 15 an unforgettable summer in an American camp curriculum learning Chinese and Chinese culture from remarkable teachers. Children will gain a competitive advantage and be prepared for high school and college programs abroad.
Why do families choose Camp Mandarin?
Learning English in a fun interactive environment
At Camp Mandarin, we balance language classes, sports, crafts, drama, field trips and adventure into programs that provide full immersion of the Chinese language and capture the interests of campers at any age. Classes are taught by native Chinese speaking teachers. Local Chinese children will attend camp with American children and participate in activities together. While American campers are in Chinese class, Chinese campers will be in English class. Each American camper will be paired with a Chinese camper of similar age, gender, and interests. They will begin communicating with each other before camp, participate in activities together at camp, and build lifelong friendships after camp.
Understanding Chinese culture
An important part of Camp Mandarin is not only to learn Chinese but also the Chinese culture. Cross cultural classes in Chinese manners, living in China, and Chinese holidays are part of the curriculum. Chinese sports will be taught and played during the recreation program. Meals are eaten with fellow Chinese campers.
Experiencing Summer Camp Core Values
The focus in summer camp is to provide children with truly meaningful growth - to teach personal values, social skills, the importance of cooperation and teamwork, an enthusiasm for activity and a belief in one’s ability to succeed. The tool in which this is taught is fun. Because our goal at Camp Mandarin is to bring this core value to our camp in China, we interview each child for placement.
Secure and nurturing focus
At Camp Mandarin, we understand that campers must feel secure to learn, enjoy and grow. We focus on creating a nurturing, supportive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging. Camp should be a second home where children are eager to participate, learn, try their best, build confidence, express themselves and explore.
